How should I mix Rit Dye to create a custom burnt red shade (Sangria or Tuscan red)?
I'm looking to dye white cotton hat a custom burnt red shade for a costume. A sangria or Tuscan red. Anyone know how to mix it? The exact shad I want isn't on the Rit custom chart: http://www.ritdye.com/Create_Custom_Color.9.lasso

Even with a perfect dye color to what you want there is variation. Since you are creating a darker color it will need to be set with salt. I suggest a 2 step dye process to achieve your color. Dye the hat red according to the package instructions..set the red then use a combo of red and brown and tangerine to get the depth and shade you want. Remember the color will look much darker when wet.

Experiment on another object of the same material to get your proper color.
