How to install corner soap dish over ceramic tile?
I have a faux marble corner soap dish to install over ceramic tile. The upper section is large enough to hold shampoo and a lower section/shelf functions as a soap dish. The whole thing measures 17 inches in length and each side that would attach to the corner is 7 inches wide It weighs about 15 pounds. What should I use to attach it to the wall?
Most of these type of fixtures need to be inset and bonded to the backer board that the tile attaches to. But I d have to see it to judge exactly how.
Your best bet now is to remove tile and attach it using a thin set mortar. Remove the tile with care. You may have to cut , hammer and chisel out tile.
Most of these do not use mollys or any mechanical fasteners.
