Why are my bath towels smell?

I live with a couple of other rooms. 2 and we all left the bath towels in the bathroom after bathing and drying off. We have three hooks all the same in the towel away. I cleaned thoroughly after bathing and use real soap and shampoo as well as a pair. My room, however, after 3 or 4 U.S. a towel, I began to smell a lot. mildewing points and unfortunately, while they still smell of clean linen. We all use the same towel as well. Is not nothing I can do to fix this problem is? Is there anything I can do may be the cause of the mildew smell?
